Psalm 146 Trust in God

Human beings are strange creatures in that we trust that the sun will rise and set but do not trust in the omnipotence, omniscience and omnipresence of God. No other creature in all of creation has less than absolute faith in Spirit; that which is behind, within and around everything we experience. It is absurd for us to trust in the sun but not trust in God. Each and everyday we are confronted with the miracles that are proof of this Presence, yet we question.

The nature of human beings is such that we actually trust in things that are not real in the spiritual realm: sickness, sin, poverty and so on (mortals). We have faith in these illusions and not in God. These ideas are the source of our discontent. The man who puts his trust and faith in God is happy. That happiness is something that no one and nothing can take away from you.

In God there is nothing that cannot be done. How can we question a Presence that has shown Itself to be creator of all, a caregiver, a fair judge, a liberator, a healer and a shelter? In these verses we see the breadth and depth of God’s gifts. Our God is a god of love. When we live a life of love and demonstrate that love in all circumstances, Christ reigns.
