Psalm 2 Overcoming Ego

The human ego is an interesting gift. It allows us to become incarnate and move through the world. Through the ego the personality is formed which enables us to become a unique manifestation of God. But it is also the source of much stress and strife in our lives. Our egos cause us to perceive ourselves as separate from God and each other. The ego is a powerful force that fights to maintain control of the consciousness.

As we begin to open our minds to the spiritual path, our egos are in a constant struggle to control our will. The kings in the bible can be seen metaphorically as various aspects of human will. The disobedient ones represent forms of personal will (kings of the earth) and the obedient ones, the spiritualized human will submissive to God’s will. But God is omnipotent (He laughs). There is no struggle because the spiritual will prevail. The wrath of God (the destruction of error thinking and beliefs and the resulting changes) is put into motion and dominion is given to love (Zion) in consciousness.

As we step into our spiritual self, we begin to find that mental distress and physical illness dissipate. Our gifts from God are intended to serve Spirit, not to serve our personal will and selfishness. Using our gifts for selfish gains will ensure undesirable consequences (he will be angry, and you will perish in the way). Peace of mind and joy are assured for those who take refuge in God.

And so it is! Amen!
